BC Driver's License Name Change

Change names on your BC Services Card first. Once successful you can then change names on your BC driver's licence or non-driver photo ID card. The name on your driver's licence will be matched with your services card.
Visit any ICBC driver licensing office in person with your current licence and original proof of name change. Your proof of name change varies depending on your reason for changing names. If taking your spouse's surname show a marriage certificate issued by Vital Statistics or religious certificate. If legally changing names show your legal name change certificate or amended birth certificate. If removing your spouse's surname show your marriage certificate AND either your divorce decree OR birth certificate. Also take your BC driver's licence. If you don't have this check the ICBC website for proof of identity documents. All documents shown must be originals.
Change names in person at any driver licensing office. If your current license has more than 6 months remaining, a replacement license costs $17. If your license is close to expiry it costs $75 to renew for an additional 5 years.
