What records to I update first?
Always start by updating your name with the SSA. We can provide the SSA name change form. Next, arrange for updated photo ID. You can visit your state DMV in person and take the original proof of your name change, such as your marriage certificate or court order. Once you receive updated photo ID you can go onto change names on your bank accounts and credit cards.
