Getting updated photo ID

There are a few steps to take before you can get your name changed with Redwood. Start by filing the SSA name change form, provided in your Easy Name Change kit. While you can file by mail, most people don’t want to post original identification documents so we recommend filing in person.

Allow a few days for the SSA name change to be visible to other agencies. Then head off to your local DMV to get a shiny new license. Check the instructions in our kit to see if your state has a form (which we provide), what the duplicate license fee is and see if your state has an online service to save you waiting in line.

Most state DMVs mail out a new license within a few weeks. Once you have that you can head into any Redwood Credit Union location to get your name changed, get new checkbooks and request updated ATM credit or debit cards.
