Veridian Credit Union Name Change Procedure

It’s a good idea to update the name on your Veridian accounts as soon as possible. You may have problems when cashing checks in a name that is different from your account, so make credit unions and banks a priority. Veridian has a higher standard of proof to document your name change compared to most other companies. That’s because they hold your funds and provide credit, such as personal loans, mortgages and credit cards.

Customers should take the following documents in person to any Veridians branch;

  • your original proof of name change (eg: marriage certificate, court order or divorce decree)
  • photo ID (eg: state driving license or non-driver ID card, passport)
  • Optional – Checkbook, Veridian ATM/credit/debit cards (as applicable)

While you don’t need to have an updated photo ID to update your name with Veridian Credit Union, most people prefer to update their SSA and photo ID first.  It’s advisable to change your name with the SSA first. The DMV will only allow a name change to match what is on file with the SSA, so wait for confirmation of your name change from the SSA then attend your state DMV to get your driver’s license updated.
