No name change kit can save you from visiting one or two places in person, but we provide any applicable forms and explain exactly what’s required so you’ll save time!

The hard way

Save yourself a few bucks and manage your own name change, but it’s tedious and time-consuming! Allow 20 minutes per company for research and preparing all the paperwork. It drags out for weeks as you wait for companies to confirm their process with you. Customers typically have 26 different organizations to notify, so it will take you over 8 hours over several weeks!! Ouch!

Because each customer has a unique combination of companies to notify, no name change kit is the same! Companies have a range of procedures to follow, so depending on the companies selected, you’ll likely receive a number of personalized and ready-to-send forms, letters and emails. Each notification is pre-addressed to each company, so simply attach the supporting documents listed and send!

Each kit comes with a company checklist detailing the name change process for each of your chosen organizations. Use this to know what to send where and keep track of your progress! You also get the Easy Name Change guide which provides an overview of marriage, divorce and legal name change.

Only printed kit customers receive the kit by mail. It comes in a handy folder and includes all the envelopes needed.

Aside from Canadian Passports and Permanent Resident cards, there is generally no set order in which to update the name on your records. Canadian passports and PR cards require updated provincial identification, so it’s a good idea to prioritize provincial health cards and licenses.

Most applicants prefer to get their federal and provincial identification and records updated first, then go onto change names with all other companies. 

You may also choose to update banks and credit cards before updating the name on any subscriptions. That way you can provide your new credit card number at the same time as you update any online profiles.

BC residents will need to update their MSP plan and receive confirmation of the change before updating their driver’s licence.

Companies have strict privacy policies and need to ensure any changes have been authorized by the account holder. Easy Name Change staff are not listed as authorized representatives across your various accounts. This means that we are not legally allowed to sign or file documents on your behalf. 

We do the next best thing – we have researched exactly what each company requires and have pre-written all your notifications! All you need to do is attach the proof listed, sign and send!

Yes! Our national services covers all provinces! We have over 750 different organizations included in our database! We’re sure to have almost all the organizations you would need to notify. We have all popular provincial forms and information, including all provincial driver’s license, health card and voter registration details. We also have provincial banks, utilities and other businesses. 

Quebec: As name change requests are rarely granted, we recommend Quebec residents get proof of their new name before ordering our kit.

Outside of Canada: We do not allow customers outside of Canada to purchase an Easy Name Change kit. Our data team has only researched name change processes for applicants who are currently residing in Canada. We cannot guarantee the acceptance of any name change request sent from overseas and we do not ship kits internationally. 

Organizations generally do not charge for a change of name unless a new credential is issued. The most common fees are for a duplicate license and a replacement passport. If you have a professional registration (eg: teacher, accountant, nurse, lawyer) your association may charge for reissued certificates or licenses.

Most of our customers already have proof of their name change, such as their marriage, divorce or legal name change certificate. If not, there are re-order fees.

All third-party fees are the customer’s responsibility. Any fees should be paid directly to the issuing authority and are not included in the cost of your Easy Name Change kit.

We need some basic personal information to create your kit, including old & new names and contact details. Beyond that, it’s up to you how much information you disclose. Don’t want to provide SIN or DOB? No problem! Leave off any information and complete offline after receiving your kit. 

We delete your sensitive form data 3 months after you register or 3 months from when you finalized, whichever was most recent.

Your data is held in our world-class Australian servers. As your data is bound by both American and Australian privacy laws, it’s among the best protected data in the world! We never store your credit card number at checkout. All communication is encrypted by SSL. We assign random alpha-numeric passwords to customers to mitigate compromised passwords.
