Marriage Certificate

Many companies require proof of your name change before updating records. This helps safeguard your account. If you’re changing names from marriage then the only document you need to get started is your marriage certificate.

Handwritten or religious certificates issued on your wedding day may not always be accepted as they are missing certain security features that come with a government-issued marriage certificate. If you don’t have your official certificate you will likely need to order it.

We recommend ordering at least 2 certificates so your name change isn’t held up where you’ve mailed your only certificate. The General Registry Office (GRO) can issue marriage certificates online
